Watching Computer Chronicles covering CES 1997 (as you do). 56k Modems the talk of the town! This part just really tickled me though where everyone was trying to figure out hey we have TVs and PCs... we must be able to merge these things. Also watching TV on your PC monitor? That'll never work!

...How the hell did I miss The Computer Chronicles? It ran from 1983 to 2012. I've been a part-time tech nerd since at least 1996. This was a PBS show, and that was most of what I watched, because I'm better than all the other boys.

Maybe they didn't run it on my local station. Let me see...

When was this on?? 7 am on a Sunday??

How did I NEVER see this? I didn't even know about it til like 5 years ago, and I kept assuming it was some Canadian show from the 80s.

All I can think is, it was mostly men in ties sitting at a table, talking about business software, back when that meant spreadsheets. It didn't seem to have anything to do with Lords of the Realm II, so I probably turned it off and went back to turning mp3s into terrible quality .wav files so I could get that game to play Loreena McKennitt.

Or making 16-color porn textures for that one NASCAR game I had.

On the family PC. Dad never noticed. He wasn't a gamer.
